At least he knows he’s wanted.

By throwing their name into the whole NBC, Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien fiasco, Fox has made the drama all that more interesting, and given O’Brien another option.

News Corp execs let it slip to reporters that should he leave the Peacock network, “Conan would be a great fit for Fox.” 

Of course, this could simply be their way of turning the screws on NBC brass.  Should Fox does get Conan, he won’t come cheap, and there’s the tricky business of getting affiliates to jump on the late night bandwagon as well. 

In a classic case of cause and effect, it was Fox’s interest in Conan several years ago that moved NBC to make him Leno’s heir apparent, which in turn led to Leno moving to prime time, which of course led to current mess the three are in now.

The ball is in Conan’s court now.
