Tight end seeks wide receiver

Interest in football a plus.

Since CBShas apparently decided to throw their own policy of not showing divisive and polarizing ads during the Superbowl out the window, by letting Focus on the Family run an ad about the joys of not aborting your fetus, another group now is apparently looking to get in.

Mancrunch, a dating/hook up site for gay men, has approached CBS to review their spot to air during the Superbowl.  The ad in question features two guys who start making out while watching football.  Yeah, watching football kind of has that effect on me too.

CBS says that the clip is still under review (even though all the spots during the Superbowl have already sold out).  Mancrunch, probably looking for publicity more than anything else, claims the network is just trying to stall to avoid a controversy.

Speaking of which, would it have killed them to at least hire a couple of 7′s or 8′s out of 10′s to be in the spot?  No word on what Tim Tebow and the rest of the God Squad think about this new development (the ad itself, not it’s lack of hot guys).

UPDATECBS has rejected the ad, saying in a statement, “After reviewing the ad – which is entirely commercial in nature – our Standards and Practices department decided not to accept this particular spot. As always, we are open to working with the client on alternative submissions.”

Cue the outrage! in 5…4…3…

Homophobia?  Perhaps.  Far more likely, the people at Mancrunch submited an ad that they knew would be rejected, looking for publicity and maybe a way to call CBS out on the whole Tebow ad thing.
