Rip Torn, Actor, Booze Hound, and Bank Robber?
Rip Torn’s next role will be a prison inmate unless his lawyers are very good.
E! (via The Register Citizen) is reporting that the 78 year old star of Men In Black and Mars Attacks! has been arrested for trying to pull a bank heist in Salisbury, CT.
Apparently, Torn had a major case of the drunks and decided he wanted to make a withdrawal from his local bank. Unfortunately, they were closed at the time, so he did what anyone would do in that circumstance, and broke in.
Police that responded to the alarm say they found him highly intoxicated with a loaded revolver. Torn has gotten himself in trouble with the law before, in 2004 he was charged with drunk driving (the case was dismissed) and in 2007 he entered a guilty plea to being ability impaired while operating a vehicle.
Charges for this latest caper of Torn’s include carrying a firearm while intoxicated, carrying a firearm without a permit, mischief, criminal tresspass and burglery. Bail has been set at $100 grand and his first court date is scheduled for Monday.
