Oscar Nominations!

The nominations for the 2010 Academy Awards were announced this am.

This year, the rules were changed to allow 10 films to be nominated for best picture, so more mainstream films would have a chance to be nominated.

Why no love for Star Trek?  Boo.

I predict Mo’nique and her hairy legs will get the Best Supporting Actress award for Precious, and Christor Waltz will win again for his supporting role in Inglorious Basterds

Best Actress could go to any one of the nominees, but I think it’ll come down to Sandra Bullock or Meryl (Bonjooooooooooooourrrr!) Streep.  Best Actor will go to Jeff Bridges, as he’s been in the industry since he was a kid, and at 60 years of age, he’s due.

Best Director will be a tight race between ex-husband and wife James Cameron and Kathryn Bigelow, but her movie The Hurt Locker is probably going to get it.

As for the top prize for Best Picture, I’d love to see Pixar’s UP surprise everyone and get it, but I think this will go to either Avatar or The Hurt Locker.

The Academy Awards airs live Sunday March 7th on ABC
