PTC has conniption over Howard Stern American Idol rumours

Here go the neurotic, sex obsessed, self appointed guardians at the PTC again, off on another one of their tangents.

Howard Stern (the self proclaimed king of all media) has been not so subtly pushing for Simon Cowell’s gig on American Idol all for the low, low cost of $100 million dollars saying “There’s not a better job than judging that f*cking karaoke contest“.

Ha!  Is he joking or is he serious in wanting to be on it?  With Stern, you never can be too sure.  His five year contract with Sirius radio is up after this year so he might really be looking to branch out or maybe just keep his price up.  Anyway,   anyone who’s ever listened to Howard knows that (a) he’s extremely funny and (b) totally inappropriate for prime time network televison.

So Stern on American Idol?  Not.  Going.  To.  Happen.

(Remember, American Idol is the show where an ex-male stripper that worked in a gay bar ran into trouble with a segment of the soccer mom brigade for “exposing my 12 year old daughter to that” or some such nonsense a couple of seasons ago)

However, never ones to let logic or common sense get in the way of  outrage! for something that hasn’t even happened (or is likely going to) the Parents Television Council have decided they must protect the children from Howard Stern, demanding that “Fox should move immediately to repudiate these rumors and instead commit publicly to keeping ‘American Idol’ safe for family viewing”…bluster, bluster, threat, disaproval, blah.

Fox, of course, is completley ignoring them and letting the rumours fly, while ratings actually increase for American Idol due in part to rumours swirling and the addition of Ellen Degeneres as a judge.

Wonder what the PTC thinks about that?
