Everyone’s soon to be favorite author  Tyra Banks, signs off the air for the last time later today, dropping the curtains on her talk show.  Fear not!  All is not lost as America’s Next Top Model will still give us our weekly Tyra fix.

When the show first started, Tyra  thought of herself as becoming the next Oprah (inset eyeroll here) seeing her show as a way of empowering young women by upping their “fierce” quotient. 

Tackling such topics of major social significance as “Why Do Straight Guys Go Into The Gay Porn Industry?”, “Are The Ugly Discriminated Against?”, and “Weaves: Good or Bad for Women?”, the show was almost always good for a cringe, if not a laugh.

There were also some totally out there segments, like the great Vaseline give-away, the on-air colonic, (sadly, Tyra didn’t participate), or the time she asked Robert Pattinson (identified as Edward Pattinson when his name appeared) to bite her.  Surprisingly Rob complied, although this was early on in the whole Twilight thing, so he wasn’t sick of that particular request yet.

Probably the most infamous Tyra moment occured a few years ago when she strode out in a bathing suit and tearfully told off her detractors for criticizing her much publicized weight gain, only to turn around and lose all of it in the space of a couple of months.   Mixed signals much?
