Is Adrien Brody the new Ah-nuld?
Per Variety, Adrien Brody has been cast as the lead in Predators, a relaunch of the now much maligned Predator franchise. Like Arnold Schwarzenegger in the first film, the oscar winner will play a mercenary who ends up battling the alien hunters. The movie is being produced by Robert Rodriguez with a July 9th 2010 release date. Production is set to begin in Hawaii and at Rodriquez’s Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas. Adrien Brody can do action pretty well as demonstrated in Peter Jackson’s King Kong, and I enjoyed the second and third installments as well. The fourth one however, was unintentionally funny. It’s never a good sign when the audience starts laughing during key scenes, but come on, sample dialogue: “People! Are! Dying!”. Ugh. Cliche much? One of my friends bitched that he could have been at home downloading porn instead. Here’s hoping Rodriguez, Brody and company deliever the goods.
