Chris Brown’s Break Down: Genuine or Staged?

“>

The debate’s been raging since this clip went viral.

Last night at the BET Awards, embattled singer Chris Brown led a dance tribute to the late Michael Jackson, singing Man in the Mirror.  A few minutes into his routine, Chris seemed to get overly emotional, barely managing to pull it together to finish.

A self serving PR stunt or was Chris actually moved to tears by the audience’s reaction? (the past year hasn’t exactly been all sh*ts and giggles for him.)

Either way.  Awkward.

Rated “B” for “Banned”

2010 continues to be “vexing” for Chris Brown.

According to  E! News he was about to begin the UK leg of his European tour in Glasgow tomorrow, when Britain’s home office refused to grant him a work visa due to his criminal record stemming from the beat-down he gave Rihanna.

A spokesminion for the Home Office released a statement, saying “”We reserve the right to refuse entry to the U.K. to anyone guilty of a serious criminal offence. Public safety is one of our primary concerns. Each application to enter the U.K. is considered on its individual merits.”

In other words, they don’t trust Chris Brown not to re-offend.

Chris took to his Twitteraccount yesterday announcing that his entire European tour has no been called off, writing “SORRY to all the fans in europe!!! my tour is cancelled, Im pretty sure yall know. my entry was denied in your country. i love you.SORRY!!”

That post was subsequently removed from an offical word from Chris’s spokesminion which read “Due to issues surrounding his work visa, the Ireland and United Kingdom leg of Chris Brown’s Fan Appreciation Tour has been postponed. Chris looks forward to performing for his fans abroad in the near future and thanks them for their continued support.”

At the rate things are going for Chris (so-so sales, little radio play) his Fan Appreciation Tour might need to be renamed The Farewell Tour

Karma is a bitch and so is Chris Brown

At the rate Chris Brown continues to make friends and influence people with his behaviour, he’s going to wind up on some Vh1 or MTV reality show as a musical has-been.

According to Bark Bite Blog Chris spoke to Q94 in Virginia yesterday to promote his concert to benefit Haiti as well as the public’s perception of him and things didn’t go…well.

A partial transcript of the exchange below…

Chris Brown: “I Love You” that’s rocking right now.
DJ Kash: Oh with Ester Dean?
Chris Brown: Yeah with Ester Dean. Sh*t rocks.
DJ Kash: Word? I was actually thinking about making that my pick of the day.
Chris Brown: Yeah but what I’m saying is y’all don’t play my sh*t.
DJ Kash: Yeah we do, but that’s just not even impacting on the charts. Is it even anywhere on the charts?
Chris Brown: Yeah.
DJ Kash: What number is it at?
Chris Brown: What number is it at? It don’t matter though so…why am I even doing this interview? F*ck it I ain’t doing this sh*t. (Click.)

Rude and petulant with a huge sense of entitlement.  What a lovely combination.  Apparently, someone from Jive Records had to call afterwards and apologize on Chris’ behalf for his behavior (guess he was to busy sulking to do it himself).

You’d think that someone in the music industry like Chris would get that a top 40 radio station doesn’t really play anything that’s not currently on the charts (at least not in heavy rotation) and bitching out a DJ on air is hardly going to change matters any.

“Getting it” just dosen’t seem to be Chris’ forte, does it?

Tila Tequila supports Chris Brown

For all of two seconds, then goes back to her favorite topic, herself.

Remember when Chris Brown asked fans to publicly support him last week?

Do you think this is what/who he had in mind?

Me neither.

How long before Tila decides Chris is the father of her fake baby (she’s apparently taken to appearing in public with a pillow or body suit)?

The consequences of falling

Sounds like someone’s starting to sweat over his lack of album sales and radio play of his music.

Chris Brown sent an audio message to his fanbase (what’s left of them) basically begging them to save his career.  “I ain’t never really did this but right now I need all of my fans help.  A lot of radio stations aren’t playing my records.  They are not being that supportive and I wouldn’t expect them to.  It’s on the fans and what you guys do in your power to bring me back.  That’s all I need is you guys and nothing else will do that except for the fans.  I can’t be an underground mixtape artist.  That’s where we are. I just want all my fans to help me. I love ya’ll. Peace.”

Last summer, the singer was convicted of assaulting his then girlfriend Rihanna in February of 2009.  Although Brown apologized for his behavior that night, he’s been widely criticized for his actions since, such as wearing a diamond pendent that said “opps!” shortly after the incident,  and recently appearing at a Jean Paul Gaultier boxing themed fashion show and being photographed with the designer who’d been made to look like he’d been beaten.

Brown’s latest album Graffiti was released in December to lukewarm reception.
