Invading alien Ships!  Scary blue lights!  Abductions!  Giant Monsters!  Eric Balfour???

Not sure what to make of Skyline.  Actually yes I do, it was probably pitched as Independence Day meets War of The Worlds meets Cloverfield.  Which is why almost everything in this trailer (except people being pulled up into the ships by the light if they look at it) somehow seems familiar.

Think I’ll wait for the DVD (Sorry Eric).

Ugh. Why is this show still on?  It’s beyond fake, not to mention stupid, and gives attention craving sociopaths the very spotlight they want.

Looks like ABC is getting desperate going for Most! Controversial! Season! Ever! by bringing on one time bachelor Brad Womack back as the guy looking for love (in all the wrong places).

Brad made headlines a couple of years ago when he choose himself over 25 famewhoring hopefuls by opting to stay single during the finale, and thereby creating a huge backlash against him from fans and media.

Bet producers end up calling this season The Bachelor: Redemption or something equally cheesy.

Famous drunk person David Hasselhoff was voted of Dancing For A Cheque last night by viewers.  Bummer.

It came down to Kurt Warner (ex football player, personal friend of Jebus), Kyle Massey (don’t know, don’t care), The Situation (who given the chance, will end up coming in second to Jennifer Grey) and The Hoff.  

The Hoff handled the news with his usual aplomb, saying “”It’s been a great ride,” … “I feel bad for Kym [his dancing partner]because she worked hard trying to get me where I was going. I’m so proud that my daughters are here and they got to see me come this far.”

On the plus side with the Hoff’s departure from the competition, the network is now clear to put the hand sanitizer back out from under lock and key.

So Posh and Becks have his and her celebrity fragrances called Intimately Yours (how corny) and this is the ad for it.  Guess it was shot a while ago, as Posh’s hair is much longer now.

As for Beck’s, he looks so much better when his hair’s got some length to it.  Now if he’d only give up with the stubble.  Does.  Not.  Suit.

Regarding the “storyline” in the commercial itself…Really?  On an elevator??  Diiiiiiiiiirty!!!!  Who in their right minds would do that??? 

(I won’t name names here as I’ll be murdered, but the story is priceless.)

After rumours that there was a bun in the oven began to swirl around again after her performance last weekend in Brazil, Mariah took to her website late yesterday, having one of her minions key in for her, “I appreciate everyone’s well wishes. But I am very superstitious.  When the time is right, everyone will know–even Cindi Berger.” (Berger is Mariah’s spokesminion).

Mariah’s servant/pet/husband, Nick Cannon, also played the denial (but-not-really) game on his radio show, saying, “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it time and time again — when my wife feels like talking about whatever she wants to talk about, you will hear it directly from her.”

Mimi apparently wears both the maternity clothes and the pants in the family.

Looks like the studio is somewhat disappointed in the box office haul that Eclipse took in. 

In theory, Eclipse should have surpassed New Moon as the film had a somewhat broader appeal with more action sequences and opened at the end of June, but as of now the worldwide take is “only” $644 million dollars on a movie that cost about $65 million to make (as opposed to New Moon with a $709 million dollar take on a $50 million dollar investment).

Better reviews aside, perhaps people were on summer vacation, had other things to do, or maybe, just maybe, this whole Twilight phenomenon is begining to wind down and lose steam.  A frenzy can only last so long, and this one’s been going on for almost two years now. 

Clearly hoping that it’s a question of timing and not interest level, Summit Entertainment announced today that the second part of Eclipse won’t be released in the summer of 2012 as originally planned, but on November 16th instead (part one will be released November 18th of this year). 

Looks like Sparkles and company are going to have to suck it up and promote the franchise for a few extra months longer than they expected.  Filming on Eclipse begins later this fall.

Anyway, JT recently directed a couple of commercials for his 901 Tequila, and they’re really, really, laughingly bad.  Sorry JT, I’ll take Silver Patron over your over-priced and over-hyped panty remover any day.

Apparently, with out anyone knowing it, the folks behind Mega-Shark vs Giant Octopus decided that it would be a great idea to make a sequel of James Cameron’s 1997 smash, Titanic.

Of course, this isn’t about the characters from the first film, that story is told.  This is about the maiden voyage of the Titanic II that launches one hundred years to the day after the original, but ends up running into a tsunami (by 2012, glaciers are going to be few and far between, the way things keep warming up).

Bad acting, bad special effects, and generall badness ensues.  Since it’s pointed out that history is repeating itself in the trailer, I think they should use “History Repeating” by the Propellerheads for the theme song. 

Speaking of history repeating, do you think this will sweep the Academy Awards next year?

Pretty Reckless, Taylor Momsen’s band of hired babysitters, released their new video for the single Miss Mothing.  You can tell they’re all edgy and hardcore becuase of the eyeliner everyone’s wearing.  How retro!  

Taylor’s being critizied for being too “sexy” for a sixteen year old girl in this video.  Sexy?  Really??  Trying too hard to be grownup with cringe worthy results is more like it.

When I first saw the title for Sharktopus I had to wonder if last summer’s Mega-Shark vs Giant Octopus on Syfy was actually a tale about forbidden love.

Thankfully, the answer to that is no.

Sharktopus is from director Roger Corman, the 21st century version of Ed Wood (Plan 9 From Outer Space).  Known for his grade Z genre films, Corman is the perfect fit for Syfy‘s Original Saturday Night monster movie franchise, which fully embraces his style.

Bad acting?  Check.  Worse dialogue?  Check.  Non-special non-effects?  Double check.  Don’t even get me started on the soundtrack, which sounds like a mash up between one of those beach movies from the 60′s and something from Quentin Tarantino on a bender.

Park your brain and behold the stupdifying awfulness that is Sharktopus.
