Glambert goes on the offensive

No, this isn’t a game of gay touch football gone wrong.

Adam Lambert, who courted a career as a pop star on American Idol, got upset when a paparazzi took his picture while on the beach in Miami, Florida yesterday.

Adam’s friend pulled him off the photographer before things got too out of hand, but the singer is now facing assault and battery accusations.  TMZ says the pap went to the police and milked it for all it’s worth.  Blah blah, “violently attacked” blah.  The cops have taken his statement and the complaint is pending investigation.  Cue lawsuit in 5..4..3…

Adam like everyone in his age group, went on Twitter (if you don’t post it, it hasn’t happened) and tried to brush the dust up off.

“Eeew paparazzi killed my peaceful afternoon on the beach! #howisthisok?”

Hahha the photos are hilarious !! Lol please everyone forgive me for that hat. – I was attempting a disguise- clearly failed. Hahah”

Can’t say I blame Adam for not wanting to get his picture taken in that get up.  HIDEOUS!

Adam Lambert chastizes rude cell phone user during concert

I love it.

During a concert at some New York Fashion Week event last night, Adam Lambert realized that a young woman in the front row was yelling into her cell phone (what the hell ever happened to taking calls outside so you don’t disturb others?) and stopped the proceedings.

Lambert spoke directly to her, saying “Sorry, can you get off your phone?!  Really.  You’re yelling into it. You’re not watching TV, honey – it’s a live show!”

Amazing.  The girl’s jut lucky it wasn’t Noel Gallagher of Oasis, she probably would have had a mic launched at her head.

Lambert’s just the latest celeb to do this to overly self absorbed members of audiences at concerts or plays.  Daniel Craig recently told off somebody for the same thing while on Broadway, as did Patti Lupone, berating someone for a solid two minutes.

I usually just throw popcorn or M&M’s at PDA users that distract me during movies, so consider yourselves duly noted and warned.

Touched by the hand of God

Or in this case Oprah (same difference, some might argue).

Adam Lambert has confirmed that he will be appearing on the Mighty Opes show sometime this winter (date TBA) via his Twitter account, saying “Oprah: def true!!! :)

Looks like Lamberts debut album sales and overall career are about to get a big boost.  If anyone can get people to chill out over the content of Lambert’s AMA performance and can it with the cries of “but what about the CHILDREN!?”, it’s Oprah.

Adam also put to rest those Glee rumours, saying that he’s not going to guest-star on the show.

punishment in the form of an olive branch

lambert[1]

ABC, in the midst of getting even more criticism over canceling Adam Lambert’s appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live and Dick Clark’s Rocking New Year’s Eve, announced Friday that the singer will appear on The View in a taped interview and performance December 10th.

Very sneaky, ABC!  Exposing Lambert to the ultra right-wing and increasingly shrill Elisabeth Hasselbeck is cruel and unusual punishment, far more severe than simply canceling his appearances.  Guess the network’s vengeful overlords at parent company Disney don’t mess around when they’re displeased.

Lambert, currently promoting his album For Your Entertainment, will also be one of the subjects profiled on Barbara Walter’s Most Fascinating People special the night before.

ABC continues boycott of adam lambert

2009 AMA Awards ShowI thought the whole reason his Good Morning America concert was cancelled was because it was on in the morning and ABC was concerned over who might be watching (What about the CHILDREN!!!?).

Now comes word that the network has cancelled the singer’s scheduled appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live December 17th.

Lambert sent the following tweet regarding the news…

Yes, sadly friends, ABC has canceled my appearances on Kimmel and NYE. :( don’t blame them. It’s the FCC heat … I AM doing Leno though. And lookin into something for NYE … It’ll all blow over. Let’s focus on being positive! :)

ABC remains mum on whether this has anything to do with Lambert’s controversial AMA performance, or the FCC, which of course means it totally does on both counts.

Looks like ABC and their dark overlords at Disney neither forgive nor forget when they feel the talent gets out of line.

toning it down for cbs

Performing on CBS’ the Early Show this morning, Adam Lambert kept the theatrics to a minimum and concentrated on his singing instead.

Lambert gave a mea culpa of sorts, saying the performance “got the most of me”a lot of it came from an improvising place…they were not rehearsed.”

Really?  It all looked pretty well choreographed to me.  How much of this is actually sincere (not that I really think he has anything to apologize for) and how much of it is from his “people” trying to make amends to a portion of the  population that accepts gay people as long as the come across as “sexless clowns and confidants” remains to be seen.

When asked if he’d do anything different, Lambert said he’d sing better, admitting that his AMA gig wasn’t his “best vocal performance.”

AMA fallout begins, lambert’s GMA concert cancelled

Glambert at the AMA'sAs much as I make fun of it, I knew there was bound to be some negative fallout for Adam Lambert from his suggestive and provocative performance on the AMA’s Sunday night and I was right.

According to a Good Morning Americacoordinator, Lambert’s free concert (part of show’s Fall Concert Series) has been cancelled.   An email distributed this morning reads as follows…

Attn: Adam Lambert Fans (About the Nov 25, 2009 concert) The Adam Lambert Concert at the Hudson Theatre has been offically cancelled.  It is not neccessary to come to the theatre as it will be closed.  Thank you for your interest in the show and Adam Lambert.  We look forward to your attendance at future events.

A spokesminion for ABC  told the New York Times that “Given his controversial American Music Awards performance, we were concerned about airing a similar concert so early in the morning.”

Of course, none of this will be good enough for the folks at the PTC who, now having sensed that there’s blood in the water, will stop at nothing, Nothing! until all Adam Lambert CD’s and paraphernalia are burned, his music banned from radio, and the singer barred from all future TV appearances.

UPDATE – Proof that with every door that closes, another one opens comes word that Lambert will be performing on The Early Show on CBS instead.  Wonder if he had to promise to tone it down and how long it will take before the PTC starts protesting this scheduled appearance?

“Right back at you abc, prudes”

right back at you!

Well, the “Won’t somebody PLEEEEEASE think of the children” contingent have been busy, lodging at least 1500 complaints to ABC over Adam Lambert’s crotch grabbing, fake blow job giving, man on man kising performance last night, that closed the AMA’s

Frankly, that was shocking to hear.  I thought that keyboardist was a woman!  This whole resurgence of androgyny has got me really confused, more so than usual.

Anyway, ABC edited the fake BJ part out of the west coast feed, but kept all the other parts (they also edited J-lo falling on her ass, which was the best part of her performance, I thought) which was probably enough to send some members of the viewing public into a tizzy.

Adam for his part, is not backing down.  He told Us Weekly that there’s a big double standard (meaning woman can be provocative without getting as much flack) and that people are taking things way too seriously.  “I just wish people could open their minds up and enjoy things, it’s all for a laugh, it’s really not that big of a deal.”

Wasn’t that the whole point to create a stir?  Looking forward to seeing what he does and who he pisses off next.  He really is entertaining.
