…For better or for worse.
Wearing an all red outfit which contrasted beautifully with the white set, Kanye returned to the scene of his crime to sing Runaway to close the VMA’s
Some of the lyrics are as follows.. “Let’s have a toast for the douchebags. Let’s have a toast for the assholes. Let’s have a toast for the scumbags. Let’s have a toast for the jerkoffs. Baby, I got a plan. Runaway fast as you can.”
Clever no? Kanye basically cops to being a dick, while more or less saying at the same time, “hate me all you want to, but life without me would be far less interesting”.

This appearance probably took some heavy duty logistics.
Marshall Mathers (aka Eminem) opened the MTV VMA’s last night with I’m Not Afraid, (which also won for Best Hip Hop Video and Best Male Video) before switching into Love The Way You Lie, where he was joined on stage by Ronald McDonald in his first appearance since losing the make-up and having a sex changeRihanna.
Em didn’t stick around after his performance to pick up his awards though. Once done, he was whisked off to LAX to catch a flight to New York City where he’s performing in a concert with Jay-Z (for the first time) at the new Yankee Stadium tonight.
Word is tickets are going for over $13 000 for the best seats (makes you wonder what scalpers are asking). I’m not the biggest fan of rap or hip hop, but I woudn’t mind seeing this one for myself. The energy would should be amazing.

She didn’t exactly sweep the MVA’s but she didn’t leave empty handed either. Picking up eight moon-men out of thirteen nominations, Lady Gaga changed outfits three times, met Cher (who’s still got it), cried, and gave us the name of her upcoming album.
Gaga said she had promised herself she’d give it up if she won video of the year, which she did for Bad Romance. After accepting the award she let it slip, “Born This Way” and even sung a few bars of the title track.
Other categories Lady Gaga won include…
Best Dance Video – Bad Romance
Best Colaboration Video – Telephone (with Beyonce)
Pop Video – Bad Romance
Female Video – Bad Romace
Best Choreography – Bad Romance
Best Direction – Bad Romance
Best Editing – Bad Romance
I’m just sort of surprised Telephone (which I personally think is actually better than Bad Romance) wasn’t shown more love. What do you think ?

At least according to Billboard…
10 – Eminem – “Not Afraid” Great video. As for the song itself, take it or leave it.
9 – Drake – “Find Your Love” As long as it’s not with you, oh egotistical one.
8 – Inrique Iglesias ft Pitbull – “I Like It” This song is the embodiment of Jersey Shore. May the fist pumping never stop!
7 – Mike Posner – “Cooler Than Me” – I had to go on You Tube to remember what the song sounds like which really, says it all about this entry.
6 – Travie McCoy and Bruno Mars- “Billionaire” – From your lips to God’s ears (having a hit song doesn’t hurt either). Spend it wisely boys.
5 – Taio Cruz – “Dynamite”- This song was da bomb.
4 – Usher ft will.i.am – “OMG” – Every summer there’s one big hit that stumps me as to why it’s so popular. Meet this year’s entry.
3 – B.o.B ft. Hayley Williams – “Airplanes” – This song is the exact opposite of the former.
2 – Eminem ft. Rihanna – “Love The Way You Lie” – Excellent song in both vocals and arrangement. Watch for it Grammy night. ‘Nuff said.
1 – Katy Perry ft. Snoop Dog – “California Gurls” – Unsurprisingly, the Beach Boy baiting song about “fine fresh beers” and “Daisy Dukes (bikini’s on top)” got top honors for the summer.

This should make more of dent in the charts than Russian Roulette did around this time last year.
Only Girl (In The World), Rihanna’s first single of her upcoming album Loud is a a punchy dance orientated track that sort of reminds me of Disturbia. The remixes (and you know there’ll be a lot of them) should be pretty good as well.
As for the cover art for the single above….meh. Sitting in a field with no clothes on and tragically weird hair? She looks like an escaped clown from the circus.

First the Bieb, now this? At the rate the music industry is going, it’s only a matter of a few years and the next huge pop sensation will still be wearing training diapers.
Willow Smith, the “fashion forward” thinking offspring of Jada Pinkett and Will Smith, has been signed to record label Roc Nation Entertainment, Jay-Z’s label.
In a statement I just can’t see him writing, Jay-Z gushed, “We at Roc Nation are excited to work with Willow. She has an energy and enthusiasm about her music that is truly infectious. It’s rare to find an artist with such innate talent and creativity at such a young age. Willow is about to embark on an incredible journey and we look forward to joining her as she grows in all aspects of her career.”
Am I the only person who thinks at the ripe old age of nine, your too young too be considered an “artist”, record deal or not?
Granted, there’s some presence and talent there, obviously. There’s also been some real prodigies (Mozart for example), but Willow Smith is probably more a product of her environment, opportunity, and marketing board room deals than anything else.
Regardless of what I think, the 7 to 12 year old set will probably love Willow. Here’s her debut single, Whip My Hair, which leaked online a couple of days ago, generating all sorts of buzz. Sort of reminds me of Rihanna. What do you think?

Anyone who’s not a fan of talent shows such as American Idol or America’s Got Talent may want to send legendary rocker and notorious grouch Lou Reed a thank you card.
Apparently, Susan Boyle, the runner up who wowed everyone with her rendition of I Have A Dream on Britain’s Got Talent a couple of years ago, was all set to perform Perfect Day on America’s Got Talent, when word came down that Lou was denying her permission to use his song, as he’s ”not a fan”.
Ouch.
TMZ says that Su-Bo, who’s supposedly something of a fragile basket case, is now en-route back to the UK, completely devastated over Lou’s refusal to share.
The lesson here is never count on a cranky old to play nice, and always have a plan B to fall back on.
I wasn’t sure when it started last night, but it’s actually quite funny, even for a crusty gay like myself who’s not big on musicals. (Shocking, I know).

The Hip Hop world was all aflutter yesterday as news broke that rapper Drake (Gabriel Drake Aubrey or that kid in the wheelchair from Degrassi) and Niki Minaj both Tweeted that they had gotten married.
“Please refer to @nickiminaj as Mrs. Aubrey Drake Graham and dont stare at her too long. She’s finally mine. .”
“Baby u scared?”
Hmmm. Real deal or publicity stunt?
Spokesminions for both say that the Tweets aren’t true and the couple isn’t married while his “people” try to convince Drake to get an annulment and have an iron clad prenup in place first, just yanking the chains of their fans and the media.

Looking for all the world like an over-stuffed sausage squeezed into something from the Mattel Princess Barbie collection, Mimi wobbled and warbled around on stage performing at the Barretos International Rodeo in Brazil over the weekend.
Girlfriend really needs to lay off the Ring-Dings or suck it up and go up a dress size or two (pregnant or not). She’s a sneeze away from a major wardrobe malfunction.
Word’s still floating around that Mimi continues to have her man-servant/employee/husband Nick Cannon try to secure her a gig as a judge on American Idol (as if producer Nigel Lythgoe would trade in one high maintenance diva for another). Then again, when did logic ever come into play with how Hollywood operates?
