Seen yesterday in the Lower East Side in New York, what was originally thought to be the unfortunate result of a misguided pairing between Ronald McDonald and Pippy Longstocking street walking turned out to be Rihanna filming a video for her next single, Whats My Name?

She’s been a busy little bee, filming videos for Whos That Chick? (single number three) two weeks ago, and another last week for her current single, Only Girl (In The World) from her forth-coming album, Loud.

With the hair and that outfit, Rhianna seems to be immersing herself in the album’s title just a little too much.  If those colours and patterns were any louder, she’d trigger seizures in those around her.

This appearance probably took some heavy duty logistics. 

Marshall Mathers (aka Eminem) opened the MTV VMA’s last night with I’m Not Afraid, (which also won for Best Hip Hop Video and Best Male Video) before switching  into Love The Way You Lie, where he was joined on stage by Ronald McDonald in his first appearance since losing the make-up and having a sex changeRihanna.

Em didn’t stick around after his performance to pick up his awards though.  Once done, he was whisked off to LAX to catch a flight to New York City where he’s performing in a concert with Jay-Z (for the first time) at the new Yankee Stadium tonight.

Word is tickets are going for over $13 000 for the best seats (makes you wonder what scalpers are asking).  I’m not the biggest fan of rap or hip hop, but I woudn’t mind seeing this one for myself.  The energy would should be amazing.

This should make more of dent in the charts than Russian Roulette did around this time last year. 

Only Girl (In The World), Rihanna’s first single of her upcoming album Loud is a a punchy dance orientated track that sort of reminds me of Disturbia.   The remixes (and you know there’ll be a lot of them) should be pretty good as well.

As for the cover art for the single above….meh.  Sitting in a field with no clothes on and tragically weird hair?  She looks like an escaped clown from the circus.

Rhianna actually got flack from some people for singing a song that deals with domestic violence because of her past experience with Chris Brown. 

Considering that both she and Eminem are familar with the issue (flip sides of the same coin) it should be a no brainer that she sing it with him, never mind that her vocals are amazing on this track.

Rihanna struck a pose for the photogs last night in Berlin, Germany at the ECHO Awards where she performed Rude Boy for the crowd. 

While not as out there as Gaga’s phone hat ensemble which was weird, yet awesome at the same time, this outfit seems to have been inspired by MC Hammer and a flying squirrel (so much for my satellite prediction).

As for the hair, not a fan of the orange/blonde bowl cut (her bouffant just styled differently).  Always thought the short pixie cut with bangs was her “best” look myself.

That was fast.

Sounds like Rihanna is pretty much done with Rated R, her follow up to 2007′s mega-selling Good Girl Gone Bad, if the rumours swirling around the singer are to be believed.

While the album has done fairly well, none of the singles off of it, Russian Roulette, So Hard, and Rude Boy (said to be the last one now) have been break-out hits like Umbrella, Shut Up and Drive, Don’t Stop the Music and Disturbia. 

Apparently, record label Def Jam isn’t happy with the return on their investment in the project and want the singer to start on a new one. 

This makes sense, in that anything Rhianna put out post “incident” was almost certainly destined to be over-shadowed by it.  Now that all that unpleasantness is out of the way, it’s back to business as usual for the singer.  Here’s hoping Rihanna refuses to discuss the matter any more, otherwise she’ll be forever associated with it. 

Word is Rihanna will start work on a new album as soon as her promotion for Rated R ends.  She’ll supposedly be working with David Guetta and the new material (said to be more upbeat and dance orientated) may even be out by this summer.

The increasingly tattooed Rhianna (eleven and counting according to various sources) is on vacation at a ”posh hideaway” someplace in Mexico with LA Dodgers outfielder Matt (The Bison) Kemp. 

Not a baseball fan (watched a game once and if it wasn’t for the beer I would have slipped right into a coma) so I have no idea why that’s his nickname.  Beats some of the other possible nicknames that could be tossed around the locker-room.  Given her stated criteria for dating guys though, I can just imagine.  Saw a picture of him and the dude is a serious up-grade from Chris Brown.

Kudos Rihanna.  Kudos.

Or maybe Rhianna’s trying to out gaga Lady GaGa again.

It’s been a busy couple of days for Rhianna.  Thursday night, she went to the release party in New York City for her new album, Rated R, where she wore the above ensemble.  Subtle!  It looks like it was made from the pillow cases of some bordello in the middle of Nevada.

During an interview on a radio show, she coped to stories of her being a size queen answering the interviewer, “Guilty as charged“.  Talk about a missed opportunity!  The correct answer should have been “Yeah, but I wasn’t when I was with Chris”.  Zing!

Speaking about a war of words, looks like Rihanna got herself on Tila Tequila’s bad side, not that the creepy little famewhore really has a good one.  During the same radio interview, Rihanna gave her name when responding to who she would put on “mute” if she were given a remote and a choice.

Tila Tequila naturally got wind of this and immediately went on a long winded rant on her website, accusing Rihanna of spreading STD’s and how she’s now on Chris Brown’s side due to her deep seated hatred of the singer.  Wow.  Like Chris Brown doesn’t have enough PR issues to contend with already?

At least that’s what Chris Brown thinks.  In a written statement to MTV News that doesn’t sound at all like it was written by a PR lackey, the singer hammered yet another nail into the coffin that is his career. “While I respect Rihanna’s right to discuss the specific events of February 8, I maintain my position that all of the details should remain a private matter between us.”

Sorry, but if you beat the crap out of someone you supposedly love, and they want to talk about it in detail to the media several months later after the fact, that’s entirely their prerogative.  Not sure what he’s so concerned about at this point in time. The damage has already been done (to both of them), and it’s not like people’s general opinion of him is going to get any lower. Maybe he’s afraid of losing even more of his fan-base?

During her interview with Diane Sawyer, Rihanna revealed the extent of her injuries and the details of the assault. “When’s it going to stop?’ He had no soul in his eyes. He was clearly blacked out. There was no person.”

In just about every picture or interview I see of Chris Brown (even before Feb 8th) I didn’t think there was too much going on behind the eyes to begin with. Subsequent interviews with him have only confirmed my initial gut feeling.
